Creating A Stronger Workflow

The last time you moved, how did everything go? If you are like most people, there might have been a few things you wish you could go back and change. It isn't always easy to completely streamline something as large scale as moving, but with the right focus, you can make things a lot easier. I wanted to make things better in my own life when I found out I was moving, so I started doing some research. I learned so much that I decided to create a blog all about creating a stronger workflow during a relocation situation. I hope you enjoy it!

Tips For A Simple Move

Moving is not exactly easy. You are packing up every single things you own, placing it all in small boxes, then you have to try and fit it all into a truck. All of this work can be a bit of a pain, that's why it's best to leave some of this work to professional movers. They can pack your belongings in the truck to save you from that stress, as well as getting your belongings safely to your new home. See below for other helpful tips to make your move a little easier on you.

Start Packing Early

You may not even realize how much stuff you have, so don't try to pack up everything a day or two before. Give yourself a few weeks before to start packing. Starting early will also allow you time to go through your belongings and toss anything you don't want or need. Start in rooms you don't use every day, making your way around your home until you have gone through everything and only have in your home what you want to keep. Then begin packing your things in boxes.

Use A Packing System

When packing your belongings be sure to use a packing system. Color code your boxes by room or use a number system so that each room has it's own number series. Write down the coding system in a notebook and write down what is in each of the boxes. Also write the contents of the box being sure to be specific so that finding things is easier. Use a system that works for you. This inventory list will also come in handy if a box is lost in the process.

Pack In New Boxes

Old, used boxes are not a good idea. Boxes can lose their strength over time, which could mean damage to some of your belongings. Use new boxes instead and protect your belongings during the move. You can ask your moving company about purchasing boxes through them, or find a packaging company where you can purchase boxes. Purchase different sized boxes and other types of boxes to help pack up your belongings.

Keep Important Paperwork With You

Important paperwork such as insurance information, social security cards, birth certificates, and other important paperwork should be kept with you during your move. In the event of an emergency you should have these items with you, not on a moving truck.

Moving can be hectic and stressful. Take your time to get the job done right and ask a moving company like Checkmate Moving & Storage about other tips to ensure your move goes smoothly.
